Walnut and Steel
Hi all,
I've had an interest in military history all my life. My grandfather and father both served in WW2 - one in the RAF and one in the Army so as a child among my playthings were bits of kit they brought back. For example, my paddling pool was an RAF survival dinghy filled with water! These days I collect antique rifles and edged weapons in the date range 1850-1890.

I have a bunch of surplus guns in my collection. I’ve always had a problem with focus when it comes to collecting so I’ve got guns from over 20 different countries.
I’ve always liked Turkish rifles for some reason and have 40 or so in my collection.
I kind of like Enfields and have 21 of them.
When it comes to Mosins I really like M91’s and have around 10 of them. My 1916 Remington is my favorite.

The poll results show about equal interest - LE 62%, Mosin 55%, Mauser 73%, and US 63%, when you add the %. Indicates the number of firearms most produced, used and widespread, which are/were easily available in private hands. Only Mauser rifles seemed to have been made just about anywhere.

wow that was fun! I like finding the any old forgotten barn rifle and cleaning up to serviceable condition...and of course shooting.

It seems Mauser is the only one in large scale commercial production. The other big three were military only until surplus.

SKS interest
I have a heavy interest in the M96 Swedish Mauser and the SKS, specifically Yugoslavian and Russian in that order.

I love the Japanese firearms (Arisaka in particular), and it seems to me a lot of you all don't like the Japenese weapons, why is that?. Please enlighten me. Thank you.
