Exclamation Scope location

Is'nt anyone going to point out that the scope is to be mounted with the adjustments AHEAD of the front scope ring, the eyepice almoust snug against the rear ring?

Thanks cambell. I'll definitely try that when I get this thing back together. So I tried what I think is an 8-40 screw in the rear hole. It went to the bottom of the hole but would not go through. Then I broke the head on the screw! On the front hole it has been drilled all the way through but tapped not even halfway down, and the threads at the top are a little boogered. I am now waiting for tap and 3/4 inch screws from Brownells that I can cut to fit. Thank you all for your valued input. Mike

Like so? Note there is a minor error in the caption "M73B1" should read "M73".

To be fair i dont think the scope Mike is using is an Alaskan so the eye relief may not work out. A test should resolve the issue.

    regards,

    Jim

Its a Weaver J 2.5. I'll play with the eye relief when I get her screwed down. If there are bad marks underneath the rings where it is now then I'll leave it alone and adjust my hold.

By the way, when I removed the scope, the front ring (the one that comes out of the base by 1/4 turning) was loose. Is this normal? When you make that 1/4 turn to mount it to the base is it supposed to be a snug fit?
[/IMG]

    Exclamation scope positioning

I am suprised that no one has noted that the scope is properly mounted only when the adjustments are ahead of the front ring and the eyepiece snug against the rear ring!

It may be a little loose. You shouldn't have to crank it TOO hard but when it's turned it shouldn't rattle.

Well, this one seems to be a rattler. When the windage screws are tightened down it doesn't seem to move. Maybe when the windage screws are tightened it pulls the scope back? I guess I'll have to wait and see how she shoots. Thanks for all the help guys!
