How can anyone be so stupid to take a $1000 collectible and turn in in for $100 gift card??????
It is to my understanding that during Clinton's destruction of military weapons in 1994 was stopped by one of the Senators in Alabama.
I also believe he had legislation passed that these military weapons of historical value (carbines and Garandicon and 1911's) could not be DESTROYED
If anyone knows about this legislation it needs to be invoked immediately on the police chief.
I also contacted Senator Richard Shelby's and Senator Jeff Sessions Office in Washington on this matter.

    Guys,
I don't think anyone here would waiver from our positions about gun buy backs.
We are all here for the love and respect of these articles of history.

Lets all be cautious as to our postings.
I like many here do not want to tread into dirty political waters.
I've bit down on my typing finger most than once lately with the current political ongoings.

Best thing we can all do........ Contact your local Congressmen/Rep and voice your concerns.

    Thank You,
    Charlie Holland

Anytime you hear of a buyback, go clean out your bank account and go down there with cash. They can't stop you from looking for collectibles and it's still legal to sell a gun to another citizen. These stupid cattle will take a carbine or 1911 that their own ancestors carried in battle to save their descendants' freedoms and turn it in for a $50 gift card to the grocery store. They ought to be publicly scorned for such outrages. If you are not aware of the real meaning of 'scorned', as in the days of the Pilgrims, do look it up.

That makes me nauseous. My guess is that there will be A LOT of those guns will wind up NOT being destroyed.

I think there are people in my neighborhood that purposly buy $35 junk parts guns to run down and sell at these buybacks.

---------- Post added at 06:50 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:46 PM ----------

On the other hand there are police departments here that strip all the parts of of confiscated guns and destroy the frames/receivers and trade the parts kits in for credit for their equipment too

The destruction of perfectly servicable firearms is a shame. The destruction of the firearms you describe should be a crime. Teach your children history (they certainly are not getting in in school) and perhaps ,just perhaps, they will avoid repeating it. Thanks to all hear that keep history alive one milsurp at a time. This subject makes me sad. Off to a happier thread.

I would imagine that is something you would not want to get caught doing. Such a shame

I don't know about CA, but they had a "buy back" in Portland recently, and the news reported that collectors were making offers on guns as people waited in line. Apparently it's still legal here, but I know it annoyed the anti-gun people. - Bob

Hummmm......buy up a lot of the $35 guns , take them to the buy back , trade them 2-3 for one for the collectables . You get a good buy and the seller gets a fair price care of the PD . Win-Win .
