Yes, you can see there's nothing left of the sight mount or bayonet lugs there...he's looking for an original era barrel...

More than once the lugs have been turned off and the barrel left full length, but I'm inclined to agree that is has been, though not certain.
Easier to ask than to guess, though guessing can be entertaining at times.

Yes, sadly it has been cut.

Yes, I'm sure there are people on here who will be able to help with your quest. From what we can see in the photo's it looks a peach of a receiver, with nice clean unbruised pads. Of course we can't drop wear gauges across photo's, but from what we can see it looks nice. I'm struggling to make out the markings but suspect it's a BSA 1943?? I love finding sporters & target rifle conversions like that & restoring them. They're never going to be quite as desirable as a totally 'pristine' piece, but then you feel a lot less troubled about taking it out for a blast. And it will still be a desirable rifle.
Yes the receiver appears unmolested. Should I post more photos. While it is sad to see it sporterized it will be nice to attempt to turn it into a decent shooter.

The receiver group would be the starting point but the rest isn't junk and could reclaim some cash towards the rebuild... Maybe closer pics of the receiver, maybe stripped to the basics...? Don't strip the bases though.
