Not sure if this is an optical illusion? The barrel looks to be a lightweight profile and short?????

I agree. On both mine the length of the bipod legs are just under half the length of the protruding barrel - as in the photo. There was also a sound moderator for fitting to the L96 made by LIST for AI. We had some where the thread was deep inside the main body of the supressor tube which was a roll-sealed unit. I never worked out how they fitted as none of our L96's had threaded muzzles but one of the .......... anyway.......

Just doing my old PARA trick with my old mates in the RM.Yes agreed the telescope also looks reduced in size from the same camera angle. I only alluded to the RM as this L/Cpl looks as if he has their flash or an RAF Regiment flash on his right shoulder
