A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. I will accept PayPal, Zelle, MO and good old checks (and cash if you want to stop by for a tour!). CLICK BANNER to send me a PM for International pricing and shipping. Manufacturer of various vintage rifle scopes for the 1903 such as our M73G4 (reproduction of the Weaver 330C) and Malcolm 8X Gen II (Unertl reproduction). Paul, Like I said, anything is possible. I've had a few spare fine adjustment rear sights that were all Winchester and numbered to their corresponding rifle. Is the Eddystone sight numbered to a rifle?

Gary, the Canadians apparently did successfully fit a number of A5 scopes to the P'14 rifle at Armourer's workshops in Franceicon. Much the same as the W&S sights were done.

Brian, I have never heard or seen any P.14 with a Winchester A5 telescope. Do you have any pictures or information upon these, or where did you hear/learn about those rifles?

"The U.S. Enfield" by Skennertonicon. There's only a few sentences. No pictures.

Have a look at Senich's "Pictorial History or US Sniping". Dated book now, there may be better info in a later publication.
“There are invisible rulers who control the destinies of millions. It is not generally realized to what extent the words and actions of our most influential public men are dictated by shrewd persons operating behind the scenes.”

    Edward Bernays, 1928

Much changes, much remains the same.

    Winchester P14W 303 Brit

Cabelas have a scoped P14 in their gun library currently - item number 3259096 - also search by the title above (this ones not getting many hits).

Per my expereince with them previously, some of the information is kind of right, the photos are good but do not show key detials and the price is out there at $14K

It may be one of the BSA contract examples...with scope serialed to rifle, kerr sling, scope lens covers and a scope carry case...

If it is still there around my birthday, I could pay the $25 fee to transfer it to my local store and go party with it for an hour to inspect and take photos.

I have copies of the Wartime dated manufacturing drawings for the Warner & Swasey / P14 bracket somewhere in my archives.

The scope case does not match the rifle, otherwise it looks very nice. But of course the price at 14k is optimistic. Do they only sell rifles which belong to them, or could it be that they sell something for customers?

Simon, I know your drawings since you've already once posted a picture of it. However, these drawings show a different mount than the two original pictures. I still haven't been able to find an original one, not even pictures.
