I have been coming to these forums for ten years. The "open" forum for cracker barrell was very nice and in the beginning agreeable to all. I hope it stays the way that Dick set it up.

So, I'd really like to see you guys get what you want if we can implement it, as long as it's signed-off by the CSP ownership (Gloria and Dick).

Appreciate the heads up and clarification Ken...
    Temporarily?.... What? What? What?
Is there something we don't know?

In the past postings were very "Across the Board" in nature, allowing almost anything in reasonably good taste to be posted. I noticed many times that members would refer the poster to a more appropriate forum, being more related to the topic introduced. Often the poster would move to the appropriate forum only to find that most of the responders were not moving with the poster, and staying with the thread on Guntalk. Most of the time the thread would continue on the new forum.

It seemed to me that to a certain extent the members were controlling the content of the forum, though occcasionally the Major or the Swede would admonish us and compel that the thread be moved, but that was a very seldom almost never occurrance (well, maybe a few times a year).

The content of postings seem to be directly related to happenings in the news or what somebody had ferreted out of the Bills introduced in the various legislatures, including our Federal Congress. Since it seems to be of curent interest, most of the time, I see no problem with continuing business as usual.

First thing is that I thank you for giving us a home and will play by your rules! But I would like to go into the history of this forum. When Gloria started Gun Talk it was one big forum that covered everything, but mostly M1icon's. The 2nd Amendment forum came into being when an anti-gun type started posting and the discussion was overwhelming Gun Talk. If I have time I read the Second Amendment Forum and post to it, but I read this forum first. If Gun Talk was held to miscellaneous gun items, there would be two-three posts a day and the forum would die. However this old dog will play by your rules.

I always enjoyed the gun talk thread the way it was before CSPicon closed and came here. It always had lots of different topics/subjects not just gun talk. It not only was a learning thread about "you name it" but entertaining as well, Ray

My feelings have been that Gun Talk was a catch all of current happenings that posters wanted to get the word out quickly. I for one always log on and and read Gun Talk to see what is generally happening and get the feel of the subjects for the day. Then I go onto the specific forums of personal interest to me.

As posted above Gun Talk has been informative on a varity of subject matter, a bullentin board for me and I would presume the same for many posters. It has provided alerts that I would not have seen after I finally call it a night after reading intently those forums that are of interest to me. You nor I can read them all, but I know I have spent as much as 4 or 5 hours in front of this screen on some nights until 2 am since I have retired and enjoyed every bit of it. I personally would like Gun Talk to stay the Cracker Barrel. However, if the rules should change so be it. I appreciate all those that contribute to these forums and I believe that the listed Topic very much explains the content. At times the posts have been known to go off topic but that again is what makes things interesting between the posters involved. We can either join in on it or start another post.

I hope that I have not stepped on anyones toes being more a reader than a poster over these last 9 or so years in giving my opinion. I believe CSPicon to be the best of the best because of the contributing posters and I would hate to see it change. Sometimes change is needed but as we can see what it going on in our govt., change is not always for the better. Again, my opinion.

I hear you guys and thanks ....

However, I don't think anyone has picked up on the original point, which was to try and help out a whole bunch of members who felt they were being thrown under the bus.

Dozens of emails from members who aren't necessarily comfortable in the public spotlight posting their concerns, but who simply want a general forum to talk about guns. One member summed up the sentiment simply, by saying "cant you put all the BS cuttin&pastin politics crp that we dont give a dam about in one place?"

So, we asked Gloria and she said just delete stuff that's posted in the wrong place, but we felt it was a better idea to simply group the same content all together under the forum it was set up for. Now we hear for the first time that Dick wants it to be "Cracker Barrel" forum.

Anyway, enough said.... so, with apologies to both Louis and those members who sent emails wanting their voice heard, I've put all the posts back they way they were, including the duplicates spread across multiple forums.

Whenever Dick and Gloria can get here (the sooner the better for us), they can address what they want to do with this specific issue and on a broader scale, what they want to do with their CSP community.

In the meantime, we'll continue to try and do our best to be good hosts ....

Just to elaborate, as I recall the Major's last definition, paraphrasing, he said that the threat to our 2nd amendment was so severe that anything political could be posted in the Gun Talk forum so it would reach the largest audience. Gun Talk used to be the "one forum" you mentioned, all the others were spun out of here.

I like to think of this as a bunch of gun enthusiast having a pleasant conversation in an open setting. When no one has a gun question, we chat about whatever is on our minds, and since many share the same values here, most of the time everyone enjoys others stories, and learn that we are a very diverse group. We learn many things from each other.

As to the gun questions, that is the main purpose of this forum. They are usually answered very quickly, so just let us fill in the idle time amusing ourselves.

I hope that explains 'Gun Talk'

Moderator, do you mean to tell us that we Joustericon CSP mugs will only be here for a short time, and that someday we will be foisted off into the Ethersphere of Lost Forum Folks?
