    Flummoxed without photos

I hope you manage to get some pics posted. I have found several instances of non-German texts with the misspelling Sprewerke, but no trace in Germanicon of a Sprewerke. Furthemore, all German substantives start with a capital letter, so it would have to be Spre... not spre...

In this connection, may I plead with all those who present unnown markings for identification on these forums: if you cannot produce a photo, then reproduce the text or markings as accurately as you can on the keyboard. This means using capitals, spaces, points, commas and dashes as closely as you can to the original. "sprewerke" cannot be a German noun, so something has been misread, mistyped or abbreviated. Or it is not German (e.g. an imitation).

But these days, it really must be possible to beg, buy or borrow a digital camera and make a couple of good photos!

There are two means to add photos here and they're not that difficult to do once you do it.
There are links to detailed tutorials with pictures where to 'click' in the sticky section above, but here they are directly.

How do I upload pictures to my posts for storage on milsurps.com?
How do I show pics from Photobucket, Flickr, ImageShack etc. on milsurps.com?

If you have trouble following the HTML steps, there is a PDF at the bottom of each you can print out and keep it next to you while learning the steps to show photos.

    I hope this helps,
    ~ Harlan

Thanks for the photos. I do not think that this is a military item. I had a gadget like this when I was a boy - it is the precursor of the modern idea of a hex-bit screwdriver with a set of bits in the handle. To settle the question of its origin, I would still like to see a close-up of the marking with the mysterious "sprewalde".

Spreewald is a place in Germanyicon, phillyriverrat57. I think Pat just slipped up when he was typing.

Spreewerke is well known for manufacturing P-38 pistols. I understand Pat's curiosity. Would you mind taking a photo of the marking?

    Thanks,
