The picture of the M2 where we can see the selector switch has a 15 round magazine. The one we don't know for sure has a 30 round magazine.

Neat photos. My late uncle was a nonflying staff officer with SAC. He was stationed at Barksdale around 1956 to 1958 I think. He was at Blytheville , Arkansas AFB in 1960.

The 'happy switch' is clearly visible on the pic usgicollector posted, and I imagine many of the Air Force carbines had them.

; many carbines were converted but not all. Many thousands of M1
Carbines were sold by the DCM in the '60s. Many more thousands have been imported from countries where the government sent them during the post-war years. Some of these may have been converted but were converted back to semi-auto. Some of these slipped through with the receiver marked 'M-2'. It's my understanding that these receivers are considered machine guns.
