Shooting fast is only the easy part of the Mad Minute; the really tricky bits are (a) reloading (b) keeping the rounds on target.

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. I've never done the LERA style Mad Minute, just "on yer feetses" 3-gun kinda stuff and practicing. The prone position I think would slow up things a bit. As far as reloading, there's one No.4 that's got an ugly bore and a not much better outside which will digest chargers filled any old way. It also doesn't try to grab the empty chargers. The 2A1s do fine via mag swaps.

The tough part for me is not firing a round off too soon when getting back on the bolt. The hand either grabs the bolt conventionally, which slows things down, or a round is fired a little before you are ready as the bolt goes forward and closes. Practice helps immensely! Get the muscle memory where it needs to be before the match. Folk will look at you funny at the "load and make ready" command if you are at a stage that starts with the muzzle down but the rifle shouldered. Mostly because the firing hand DOESN'T push the bolt forward. Buzzer goes off, muzzle comes up, bolt goes forward, bang.
