I appreciate the comment on the gallows. I do have some that are bent at the cross guard that appear to be due to use (maybe your use!). I also have some that are arced across the entire blade. It really looks like warpage from heat treating. I have read (can't find it) that there was a straitening operation after quench and tempering. Others have an axial twist that is right at the the cross guard. Those look to be due to improper setup from grinding. As if the angle they started grinding from wasn't in the same plane as the tang. Some of my blades appear to be factory (to me anyway for whatever that's worth). Some still have that machine grinding that traverses the blade. Others were finished by hand.
