Just like the Nagant or Lebel. Not really a rare idea. Doesn't look like it, no room for the cylinder to move laterally.
Understandable confusion from the photos so far. Here's some that ought to clarify:


Recessed on both ends of the cylinder.
(BTW, the Lebel revolver isn't a gas seal design. Just sort of "steam punk" coolness.)

Oddly, Fiocchi 7,62 Nagant won't chamber. I have a few ideas about fabricating cartridges, one's expensive, another's weird, but relatively cheap. The cheap one likely explored first! Basically, it involves necking down the front end of a too short case and slipping an extention over the necked down portion and soldering the assembly. May do for limited usage. It's not a high intensity round, so....

You might try and rework some 222 rimmed or 357 max - I think the 222R with the rim turned to the correct size and case length might work as you still want a gas seal.
