Yes I used to live in East Perth then Maylands had brand new green model 1976 Z900, was Bernies burger bar near the causeway smash down a burger bog laps of Perth drags across the Kwinana free way where it finished at the Raffles go in there for a drink or a fight which ever came first, then just blat around Perth. The best speed I ever did was 170KMH down Wellington street down past the old roller skating ring not bothering with the red lights or stopping I was in a drag on my Z900 with a water bottle (750 Suzuki water cooled) blew him to the weeds. Yep plenty of roll your owns as well very heady days glad I am still hear to talk about it.
When I had my last bike a Honda VF1000R it was the same throttle to the stops madness personified we were I do not know how any of the later crew survived, but in my time in Perth we buried a few of us "Ride hard, Die free" motto.
I lived to prove one motto incorrect ~ "There's old riders, Theres bold riders, But there's no old bold riders."
My then to be wife did research on me behind my back with guys I rode with as I wanted to get another bike their assessment of me was apparently "He is a lunatic" I had a theory if you knew your bike had good riding skills & tyres (I ran Pirelli silver dots very very soft) calculated your line and exit point verses your speed then only the unknown will catch you and yes I have been caught 1 x sheep 1 x kangaroo both ran out of nowhere the latter I hit on my ZIR1000 at 140kph so I know what pain is.
Ahh the good old days! now my soon to be 18 y/o son wants a road bike "But dad you did this and that' "No your not having one whilst your living here......"
