Red Dot Problem

I've seen this type of very lightweight red dot. They don't have a brightness adjustment. Instead they have a sleep mode. In some of the indoor ranges I shoot in the winter time it's very dark. Some people who bought
those had them go into sleep mode while shooting.

It does have brightness adjustment, but it's an automatic function not a manual setting like an Aimpoint or Eotech. The "sleep mode" is just the lowest setting.

If you're in a very dark setting you can fool the sensor with a piece of masking tape over it if you want it on bright. Personally, I find it a bit too bright in most light conditions and am looking for a small piece of window tint to see if I can bring the brightness down some.

I guess I misunderstood the arrangement. I thought that when you stopped using it you put a cover over the photo sensor causing it to go in to sleep mode which is why I thought very dark settings put it in sleep mode. But you're saying that you can put tape over the sensor and it increases the setting.

Have a look at the EoTec sight system. It's sturdy and used by our own military. Yes it's expensive -- but worth it. At least it hits where you aim and has 1/2 minute click adjustments for windage and elevation.

Yep, it's very nice but way too expensive just to sit on the barrel of a S&W 41. At least for me.

I wanted something very ligthweight because my necks been bothering me and the gun feels heavy. I didn't think I'd have so many problems with something I thought would be so simple.
