New member fianlly getting around to saying hello. I've been reading many of the fine artcles and comments for quite awhile.
I didn't realize it was an Australianicon hosted forum....duh...I thought it was Canadianicon.
Very sorry to hear of the pending range closures.

I worked in Queensland for three years (1968-1971) period. Met a bunch of fine people.
Got to shoot Martinis of all calibers, and was introduced to .303 Enfields as they were supposed to look.....not the stuff I was used to seeing in the states at that time, that looked like they were all dragged through New Guinea swamps.

Two of my rifles were left with friends in Queensland. Smith-Corona 03-A3 and M1 Garand.
I wasn't allowed to bring them back with me at that time because of changes in the 1968 gun laws in the states. They wouldn't even allow me to bring Martinis back because they were
"military actions". Bureacrats are the same in USAicon or Australia.
I still can't believe my Aussie friends gave up their weapons and put up with the new restrictions.
Thanks for the fine forum, and I'll be looking forward to getting some help on some of my modest restorations, or at least preservations. Kind of limited to basic shop skills.

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. Newest new guy here. Retired firefighter/cop currently working as a part-time firearms instructor that loves to shoot anything. I have a few military rifles not counting ARs....a couple of Springfield '03s (my true loves), a Kragicon and my newest addition a Canadianicon Ross. I am mainly interested in WWI and WWII Allied guns but find all of them interesting.

Hope I can contribute to the group, but generally the more I study the more I find how little I actually know.

I'm new to guns in general but have always been interested in history. I've joined to research future purchases. Interested in Commonwealth weapons or WWII weapons in general. I have the same user name on Canadiangunnutz forum as well.

    Hi from S IL

Hi folks, I'm Vinny from S IL. Been a gun nut all my life; love to shoot and collect. Am a former Marine and now in law enforcement. I'm into prepping for TEOTWAWKI. Always looking to learn more about various firearms and this site is helpful for info. I do a little amateur gunsmithing. Currently customizing a 1938 Mosin Nagant into a poor man's sniper rifle. Would love to break bread with any other local gun nuts/ preppers.

    Introduction

    Hello
My Name is David30. You will realize I have not done this on the net in a long time. I enjoy reading and normally will not put in my 2 cents unless I think it is worth saying. I spent to much time in the service listening to people talking, but really not saying much.
Anyway, thank you for allowing me to join your forum.

New member. I am more of an shooter and history buff than a collector. Definitely a great primer for father son time and wish I had discovered this years ago when things were a bit cheaper! Current military member in the PAC NW.

    New!

It has been a long time scene I was new... No old jokes please.
As it was said in some song, happiness is a warm gun. And reading about them is almost as much fun.
I shoot often, out on my drive, I can get a hundred yards and have asphalt for brass to land on. Don't lose much brass that way, but it gets hot with the sun. Getting where I have to use a 4wheeler to go check my targets.
    Enjoy,

    OSOK
