Hello, I have been collecting for a few years now. I started with the SKS, then Mosin Nagant rifles. I also have one Bavarian M1icon carbine, and a Remington 03-A3. Soon I may have a Remington 03. It is in need of restoration. Someone cut down the stock, removed the hand guard, brazed a brass bead to the front site, and removed the butt plate. The rest of it looks good with a shiny bore, serial number range 3290000. I am also retired from the U.S. Navy, and have been working for the state of Tennessee for the past 8 years.

    New to the Forum

Hello - I am new to your forums, really impressed with what I've read so far. I've accumulated a lot of mostly C&R arms over the last 50 years ( anyone remember $15 Webleys and $10 Martini Henrys ?) and still enjoy the hobby today. Thank you in advance for your hospitality!

Nice to be here. Was led here by some great info on the Lee Enfield when looking for a "how to" adjust front sight on a #4 Mk1.

I have one and also a couple of M1 Carbines, Mosin 91/30, K98 and a few other odds and ends. Although into guns since I was a kid, am 72 now, I'm just getting into military stuff and really enjoy taking them apart, and spending lots of time (retired) trying to restore them to reasonable battlefield condition. Like most my age who were in the Army, had issued to me M1 Garand, Carbine, and M14icon. Did Army time in Germanyicon 1960-1963 with the spooks.
I like both rifles, and pistols. Like to fly fish, and wish I didn't live in one of the most liberal counties of one of the most liberal states. In the land of Nancy, Diane and Barbara, only they and their colleagues have 2nd amendment rights.

Hope to learn something here and help where I can.

    Good Morning gemtlepeople.

I am the proud owner of two No4 Mk1* Lees, one fitted with a Parker Hale 5, the other with a Parker true zero. My chief interest is working up a cast bullet load for 100 and 200m target shooting. I have a 1000yd range available locally, but that's a bit optimistic for lead and Irons.

Just looking around for now, and downloading Shoot to Live! ttfn

Hello all. I found my way here as I am the proud owner a a couple of Enfield No4s that I am trying to learn more about. I have absolutely no military experience, other than a short time in the Sea Cadets back home in UKicon where I never set foot on a ship. My father was in the RAF and grandfather was in the South Wales Borderers so I suspect their genes are why I decided I had to own some Enfieldss when I self deported to California from UK 20 years ago.

When I can post, I will have a couple of questions relating to this story, which I am shortening:

When my grandfather died, the whole family went to visit his widow in Brecon, Wales. She showed my Dad a sword that was allegedly Rommell's that she said his father had always wanted him to have. Somehow it had been stolen from Monty's batman and my grandfather had got hold of it. Now I have been told this is total BS just about every time I have repeated this story. All I can say is that I know one part and one part only is definitely true, there was a sword, I held it in my hands. I was only 13 at the time, i can't remember anything about what it looked like, but it was definitely a sword. She promised that when she died, she would make sure it went to Dad. Well she did many years later but we didn't stay in touch well and by the time Dad went to the funeral, the sword had vanished. Probably taken by one of her other relatives who had stayed in touch.

So for those who might really know about such things, is there any chance of the owner being Irwin Rommel? For all I know Rommel's sword is is sitting in the Museum of Anywhere, safe and sound, I know it's not in the Imperial War Museum or Brecon Barracks, I have asked. I would just like to know whether it was likely any old officers sword that got exaggerated or a famous one.

Oops I said I would keep this short but...the second question is about a gun. At the time of the visit, Aunt Mary gave my Dad his grandfathers old service revolver. I should mention that grandfather and his widow were both in the Army, which is how they had met. Their house was full of militaria, giant shell casings being used as Coal Scuttles, smaller deactivated artillery shells as bookends, there was polished brass and pointy ordinance everywhere. Anyway, Dad took the gun but we had a very tense drive home across the Severn Bridge which thanks to a very active IRA coming in through Anglesea had random checkpoints. Even though Hungerford hadn't happened yet, UK gun laws were very strict out people like us just didn't have them. Of course when we got it home the first thing we did was put pieces of paper in the chamber and played Russianicon Roulette with it. Mum pretty soon made Dad get rid of it which he was very upset about.

Sorry this has rambled out of control...I would liike to get hold of a gun that was likely that same one. I am guessing a Webley but I don't really know. what revolver would a Warrant Officer Class 1 in the South Wales Borderers have carried? He served from 1921 - 1945 at least and went to India and Afghanistan. I don't have his full service record to hand but I can get it from Brecon if it matters.

Sorry, i was only supposed to be saying Hi...

    Thanks

    Greetings

    Hello all,
I'm Mike from Cincinnati Ohio USAicon, 37, Univ Cincy 02. I own a rebuilt M1 and Yugoicon Mauser. I grew up with the 20th century bolt actions, my dad would buy me any of those under $100 rifles stacked up at Bill Goodmans or OVMS shows. I reload my 30 and 8mm as well. My Garand is acting up and I'll be askig a question in the right place soon. Thanks
