Roger, thanks. Yes, it looks like it has been there since the rifle was minted as a No4T. I like the idea of it having an interesting history too.

Your two rifles:
L42A1 rifle serial number 37246 was a batch of 15 rifles sent to Donnington on the 5th October 1971.
L39 rifle serial number VE 69A288 was sent to Donnington on the 16th February 1970.

058 was an Enforcer purchased by Somerset Police Firearms Unit on the 4th March 1974.

One of the spare mags I have is marked up with 687 on the base, is that number recognised?

Its sandwiched in a block of rifles that went to the Hongkong Police in 1982, but 687 is blank!!
