GCA Journal
The Winter issue went to the printer last week, should be going into the mail this week. As usual, some good stuff in it, including two My Favorite Garand stories and a personal account of an ambush in Korea that killed GI's as late as 1963. Who knew?

The Korea story was most excellent. It's crazy how they kept something like that under wraps. Were those ambushes pretty common?

I’m away from my magazine. I read the gas trap article and headed out and missed the Korean article. But I was stationed in Korea during the 83-84 time frame and we were not having good relations with them at the time. SK Boxer killed in US, KAL007, tunnel discovery, etc. and there were minor skirmishes on the border. In one of those minor skirmishes I heard we (US) expended approximately 2800 rounds. If you do the math of magazines etc. that is a lot of shooting. That’s just one story so it was still going on as of that time. They used to drop propaganda leaflets on us from balloons occasionally, and they were so good at it that sometimes they would make it under the door of your hooch.
