Don't forget to pound the front sight blade opposite how you'd move the rear. Take a caliper and measure the distances from the base edge to the blade base on both sides , then track your movement there and the effect on your group placement to set it correct faster/easier. Chris.

Are you suggesting that I 'pound' the front sight with a brass punch?

Is there any sort of a sight tool available, along the lines of the AK front sight tool?

There is a tool tp push the front sight. The Danishicon built this tool. Try this web site:Garand, M1, M14, M16, Carbine, 1911, 1917, Militaria, and Small Arms Information. I don't know if they sell them but the drawing has all the info you need to make one. Good luck.

You can take an ak/sks sight tool and file some material off of the inside flat so that it will go over thet 1917 front sight and use it. Cheep way to go.

Thumbs up +1 on the sks tool

I had an Eddystone that needed a windage adjustment. I tried a brass punch to drift the front sight, did not work. Bought a sks sight tool and filed the inside dimensions down just a bit to fit on the 1917's front sight ears and screwed the tool in a bit and got the rifle right on with the windage. Works very well and cheap. HTH
