This unit was disbanded in Dec.44. The carring handle on the 'A6 is the late style . I don't think the two were around at the same time.

I agree. I expanded it and he has the award's box in his right hand and the medal in his left. Have no idea what it is. Probably Purple Heart.

All I can see is a white patch that is the medal. I thought it was Captain's bars or something.
