    A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered.  Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle.     One hopes humanity took over and the prisoner was cared for, maybe they chased away the civies to protect this soldier! To rise above and treat a surrendered or injured enemy is what set the Allies apart from the other sides.

    Guess you cannot blame them still at least they can smile there are not to many smiling faces from the carnage of war, perhaps he was covered by his comrades after his demise and perhaps a war photographer always on the look out had a quick "Look here's the enemy pose for us will ya the folks back home will love it"
