Chilean Carbinaro Carbine
I've got a 98 Mauser Carbine mfd in 1935 with the Mauser Banner on the rear receiver ring and Chilean Carbineros logo on the front ring. It's in 7 mm, that's right, 7 mm Mauser Cal. I understand there were 10,000 made with their unique front sight for Chile. Can any one enlighten me about this rifle???

No, but maybe you can enlighten us! Desciption and pics would do wonders. Used to see like new Chilean Rifles from time to time w/ their beautiful finish, but nothing nice for ages, now! From where did you get your production figures?

Like jmoore said, pics are always great. The Chilean Mauser is a very good version of the Mauser Carbine. The cal. is 7x57mm and is very accurate.
The 7x57mm cartridge, also known as the 7 mm Mauser, 7x57mm Mauser, 7 mm Spanish Mauser in the USA and . 275 Rigby in the United Kingdom, was developed by Mauser in 1892 and adopted as a military cartridge by Spain in 1893. It was subsequently adopted by several other countries as the standard military cartridge. It is recognised as a milestone in modern cartridge design, and although now obsolete as a military cartridge. The 7x57mm has been deservedly described as "a ballistician's delight".
The British had some bad experiences with such a caliber during the Boer war, the Boers made good experiences, they used it against the British Army. If the rifle is in good condition and a good shooter, i wonder if it isnt so, you will have a nice competition rifle. RWS-RUAG makes a very good ammo for this caliber.

It may be the single best military cartridge of the smokeless powder era. Possibly followed by the British .280 round for the EM2.
