    A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered.     Launcher

    We have seen many combat photos of M1s with the grenade launcher attached... I wonder why. Maybe simply to avoid taking it off and putting it on again? As an ersatz flash hider? Because it looked cool?

    My guess? You won't lose something (in this case, the grenade launcher) if you put is where you need it when you want to use it.

    From memory doesn't the launcher push on a button on the end of gas plug to stop the SA action when launching a grenade seem to recall it from somewhere

    We do not know the context of the photo. Maybe he just attached the launcher.......maybe he just fired it........maybe he's the only soldier with a launcher and is used only for that?
