Eddie,
Crikey "Rocking Horse poo" good luck but I certainly haven't seen one for at least 30 years, but it is soemthing many never use in this day and age of throw away gun products!

I think that it'd be a simple thing to make if you had one to look at.
When we got our first AR15's to replace the Owens (and Sterlings in NZ) I think that the crunchies were taught NOT to use things like that. In my limited experience, they pushed the rod down from the muzzle end, with a bit of 4x2 on it. That's the first problem. To most crunchies, 4x2 meant half a shirt or the most part of a truck camouflage net. Anyway, they'd stuff it down by brute force until it got to the chamber and it went slack of course. THEN they'd start to pull it back so that by now, it was DOUBLE thickness so that even Big Bob from Ballarat (we had another..., Bendigo Bill..., I wonder where he is now....) wouldn't get it either back or forwards. So it'd come to us. But this time, not only was there a rod and rag there, but bits of wire, nails an old broken round needle file (yep, seen that too....). It was endless........... To cap it all, by now the handle was pulled off the rod

Peter,
I'm sure it would be easy enough to make, but my collectors genes won't let me!
Ill let you into a secret if you promise to tell nobody. I've never mastered the art of wrapping the .22 sized patch on the jag, it always either falls off or won't go further than the chamber.
The .303 4b2 was much easier!!! And I was always taught to push it through from the breech and out the muzzle and then discard it, or perhaps reuse it from the breech.
Ive now given up and use the loop instead.

I know this thread is not specifically about cleaning, but I just push through, pull the cloth off the bit, then pull the rod back through and re-use the cloth if its not too dirty. Just flip it over. Also maybe you can make a DIY stop with a bit of drilled out dowel over the rod with a hole and screw to fix it at a certain point on the rod.
But the genuine PH equivalent would be pretty neat honestly.

My point exactly, I am seeking this for a collection, not for use!
