    Oilers

    Still raining and still bored.

Pulled out some exrta oilers. If anyone has any different ones, I would be interested.

Nice Collection. To complete a US GI collection all you need is a Polley Brothers and Verson, and a Yankee Hill Machine.

    Bill,

Do you by chance have those others for sale? If so email me please.

I read somewhere about a BW, but have never seen one, have you? Maybe it was a misprint.

These weren't the best examples I had of each, just what was in a bag and quick to round up for a photo. Some nicer in guns but didn't want to take them off.

    Thanks,

    Jim

BW is a myth. There are other items that never existed that are printed in books.

To complete the USGI collection you'll also want to add blued oilers to the 5 of the first 8 that are parkerized. As well as the IS marking variations. Then to complete the collection in total you'll need the Korean made oilers.

    A grouping of 5000.

All oiler spare parts contracts were marked for the carbine, but the number produced depended upon both carbine and M3 production. Same goes for the slings, except those included M3A1 production. The M3A1 did not use carbine oilers, it had its own design. Nobody has been able to confirm if the SW was Winchester or a spare parts contract.

He can also find the oilers made in Europe. They were unmarked, had a thinner body and a very thick cap. There were also West Germanicon, which were blued and actually milled out of a piece of solid steel. I have a container of them. They are beautiful and much heavier.

    Bill,

Grabbed some unmarked oilers out of a bin.

The two on the left are blued and heavy. Is that what you mean by Europe and West German?

The middle one has a flat bottom.

The two on the right have rounded bottoms.
