03A3 Stock Relief
How much relief should there be between the top rear portion of the receiver tang and the stock? I have read that to prevent the wood from splitting at this point from recoil some relief must exist to avoid splitting the stock. I've been a member for many months but I believe this is my first question.

To state what Kirk said in another manner, about 1/16" clearance (.065"). Some folks do better with fractions than decimals. Use a drill bit as a guide.
