NRA Rock-ola Gun
Hey guys I'm a new guy here and need your help. I just picked this gun up and I need some info on when this was bought. I have searched the internet but cannot find much. Apparently the NRA sold these guns in the late 50's and early 60's and wondered if anyone could help me interpret the date the gun was purchased. On the paperwork there is a space that says "Selected By and Date" and it is marked 53-4111. Another space says "Document Date" and it is marked 104. It looks like the guy paid $20 for it, I sure didn't get it for that much but its a nice gun. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

CMP received all of the records from the former DCM. For a fee $25 they will do a search and document if it was sold thru the DCM. They will send you a CMP Letterhead authenticating the carbine.
Hang on to all the paperwork. Documented DCM carbines carry a premium to some collectors.

During the 1960's M1 Carbines were sold through the DCM to NRA members. I believe the date on your paper work is probably Julian, and you have to have a pretty good idea of when the date was used to get it correct. Seems like the Julian date used the day of the year plus only a digit or maybe two of the year.
I remember the price of $20 being the correct price.

Here is the documentation I with the Winchester:
DD 1149-4 “Requisition and Invoice/Shipping Document” 2 copies 8 ½ x 11 dated 10-2-64
From: National Rifle Association of America
To: (sent from) Tooele Army Depot, Tooele, Utah
Send to: (buyer)
Also has Voucher number, date, serial number, price and legal stuff.
The $20.00 included shipping. Rifle $17.50 Packaging & Handling $2.50
DD Form 1348-1 Looks like a shipping order form. 3 copies approx. 5½ x 9 date 12-9-64
Also have receipt from the trucking company and information piece from NRA.
On the back of the NRA piece there is a picture of a carbine with adjustable rear sight, bayonet lug band and flip safety, type 2 stock. (not relevant to your question but thought it was interesting.

Thanks guys for the info. After taking the gun apart I found out the trigger housing was Inland and I'm don't know about the stock but the handguard is also Inland. Also butt pad is Winchester. I'll see if I can post pictures.

Looks like it went through a rebuild at Red River Arsenal by the RRA on the stock.
That U.S.M.C. mag pouch is worth $35+

Any other markings on that stock?

There are some other marks where the sling slot is but are very faint, one looks like a K or R in a circle anf the other mark looks like a tomb stone with some mark but I cant make it out.
