Check the firing pin...The 49 is VERY prone to breakage... The 8mm version was hard on the pin, and the reason later versions went to a two piece pin.

The pin looks fine, but, I'm buying a backup anyhow. I think it was the old ammo I was using. I have several cases of 1950's turk that shoots great, but, it is 50 years old, thanks,-SDH

I would not be using the Turkish ammo in a ABL 49. Apparently the ammo was not stored in the best of conditions and it has opened up a few semi auto rifles with firing out of battery. It also it has a hard and (VERY) erratic primer. One small bounce of the breech block might be the guns last. I'd be more inclined to shoot the ammo in a bolt action rifle than a semi.

Thanks for the info mate, I'll have to be looking for a new, but cheap alternate. I have many bolts that will handle the stuff, Thanks again-SDH
