ww2 marine corps jacket
Hey everyone. Here's my latest pickup from this weekend. I went antiquing with some of my family (traditional Easter stuff) and I found this jacket. The ruptured duck is in great shape, it has what I think is the right collar insignias, no signs of mothing anywhere, and it has the patch of the 1st marine division and the rank patches on it as well. I ended up paying $35 for it but I haven't examined it fully yet to see if everything's really authentic. The jacket came from an estate that the shop purchased and this was the only military item that they recognized. Did I pay a fair price for this? Thanks again and any help on this is very appreciated.

Here's a better picture of the division patch.

$35 isn't bad for ANY tunic in decent shape. Older tunic that is...what do the tags inside show you?

I did see a depot mark in one of the inner sleeves with a date of 41-42. Other than that I haven't looked it over closely enough yet. I'll try and look it over some more after I get home from work. Any idea where I should be looking to identify it better?

There should be product marks, stamps or tags just inside the flaps or just on the inside pockets.

Well Jim I looked my jacket over and i can't find any obvious tags or stamps besides this depot stamp. I did find some remnants of white tags but they were only where the tags were attached to the jacket. I did get some pictures of the other features on it. Here's the depot stamp.

Last night I also found that on the left rear tail of the jacket a sewn seam is loose (but I could get my mom to repair it as the sewn area would just need to be resewn on with the original holes). Anyway I really like this jacket and the fact it belonged to a marine of the 1st marine division makes it more special since that was my dad's division during Vietnam.
