Original Manufacturing specification and processes

As production continued up to the fiftys and sixtys, (Only seems like yesterday to me!) are there any original details of manufacturing specifications and processes surviving for any of the Enfield Rifles.
It seems that some problems associated with keeping these rifles going could be resolved more easily if the original specs. or processes were known.. e.g. Detailed(or basic) case hardening methods for various parts, Machining operations to the Action body with dimensions, Accepatable tolerances etc.
Or would these be so collectable that no-one is likely to give them up even if it means the demise of the shootable enfield?.
I would guess that there must still be a few people around who actually manufactured them.

All that sort of stuff was probably binned when the Royal Ordnance Factory system was privatised in the '80s. Certainly in the line of business I was in there was no encouragement to retain obsolete knowledge and documentation, which was not contributing to the bottom line.
