1918 Graton & Knight Holster - Information needed.

I just purchased a WWI Graton & Knight holster for my 1917 revolver and am looking for some addition information.

On the backside of the holster it is marked .... G&K...1918...C.W.A.
I'm good with everything except the C.W.A.
Does anyone know what the C.W.A. initials are for? They are factory applied as the G&K and 1918.

Just about all the WWI leather goods had to pass an inspector and be marked before they were accepted by Ordnance. Probably lost to time, but C.W.A. was the initials of the government employee that accepted your Graton & Knight holster. Some leather is found with two or three sets of initials, and the extra sets are piece workers. The workers were paid by how many pieces they turned out, and by applying their initials they could keep up with the number they made.

Thanks Johnny, I assumed it was the inspectors initials and was just curious if anyone knew who C.W.A. might have been, but I'm sure like you said, alot of this has been lost to time.

...and thank you for the quick response.
