1954 ATF Turkish mauser
I just picked up one of these at a local gun show for a song. Looks brand new and is one of the nicest rifles in my collection. I'm curious as to what kind of ammo should be shot through it. I have access to some Romanian surplus 8mm. Would this be ok to shoot or should I stick with trying to find some turkish ammo for it?

Romanian should be fine or any other 8x57 JS

Turk ammo is specifically designed for them so will theoretically produce the best results but any 8x57 will work fine.

Turk ammo is the German WWI loading. Find a 150gr. bullet and load to hot (2800fps) specs and you are ready to go. I still see Turk ammo at the gunshows so do look around. Be aware all the milsurp will be corrosive. So hot soapy water, then your Hoppe's No 9 and always in that order! Good luck.
