Reference Materials
I would like to know what reference books are best to ID equipment or gear? If there is even any around. Or if it is from personal knowledge. Thanks.

I have two that are good. They are large books and every page is a full sized page with photos of equipment. These are popular books and I'm sure there are many others
(Of course no book is all inclusive)
You can usually use the author name and do a Google search and it comes up with Amazon or other sites that sell books
Government Issue U.S. Army European Theater of operations collector's guide
By Henri-Paul Enjames
USMC Uniforms & Equipment 1941-45
Bruno Alberti and Laurent Pradier
With these two books you will see the majority of all uniforms and equipment used in both theaters. They are also a big help in learning the official military terms used to ID equipment. There are always mistakes in any book but they do a good job covering most everything correctly. I think these books would be very interesting for most people here, even if they don't collect gear. Both books show weapons and some of the equipment associated with each weapon.
