$300 is very high in the US but it's hard to price for other countries due to regulations, supply and demand etc. It has one big problem, it's missing it's bayonet and it looks like the attachment has been removed as well. The stock looks great, one of the nicest I've seen for markings.
Ammo is very difficult for this one although oddly enough, I just got 9 rounds on three clips yesterday at a yard sale.

Canadian prices are much higher than US, true.
But an Bubba'd POS will run around 150 here.
Therefore this unit would run 225 - 250 here. And when buying from family I'm not looking for a great deal...save 50 $ and be known as a chiseler for the next 30 years? Hell, I'll drop an extra 50 just to avoid having someone say I took advantage.
No-one seems to remember the US / CA price differences. Pack of smokes is 12-13 $, 6 pack is the same price too. Hell a tank of fuel can easily top 100 $.
But wages are higher too; so it all comes out in the wash I suppose. Makes crossborder shopping pretty tempting though...

Calvary carbines still in original 7.35 chambering are pretty uncommon. I might be inclined to find a donor 6.5mm carbine with an intact bayonet assembly and fit it up to this rifle. Easily worth 300 bucks here in Texas if complete with that nicely cartouched stock.

I would tend to agree with barbarossa. 7,35 carbines are quite a bit scarcer than the usual short rifles or 6,5 carbines.
