    American Marines of the 1st Provisional Brigade sit in pouring rain while one of them uses a radio for communication during a lull in the fighting for the Orote Pennisula.

    The 1st Provisional Marine Brigade, a formation of United Statesicon Marines hastily put together prior to the Attack on Pearl Harbor to garrison Iceland. The unit was reformed for the Battle of Guam and were created again at the beginning of the Korean War.



    Guam
    The Provisional Brigade was reformed again on Guadalcanal on 19 April 1944.[2] It consisted of the 4th Marines and the 22nd Marine Regiment. After the invasion of Guam it was disbanded and formed into the 6th Marine Division.
