    Another sight question

    I can't remember if I posted this before searched high and low, but any info would appreciate,

    Only marking is Austral with the Patent number 13801 (think its a 1 at the end)

    Well hello again, I will answer here instead of by PM
    The patent number 138011/48 was for a fixed arm target sight for the No.1 Mk.III*
    The sight was designed by Robert Gathercole from W.A and was one of many sights made in OZ at this time.
    This sight came equipped with it's own mounting bracket, different from the many brackets currently available, the sight had little or no real advantage over other target sights of the time and faded into obscurity as quickly as it had arrived.
    Now just a collectors piece.
