No 4 MK 1 Forestock tightness.
Hi Guys
replacing the wood on my No 4 MK 1. Should the wood at the side of the receiver be very tight towards the back end. The original is very loose bit i think the wood may have dried out. Should it fit with hand pressure only or a tap with a suitable hammer. I enclos pictures of where it is tight.
The front also fouls the foresight but I guess this where it has not gone back far enough.

Read the very detailed article about fitting fore-ends before you even go one step further forwards. Read, then read again and digest. You could be at the very point of no return with your new fore-end at the moment I fear.
I am now muttering many expletives under my breath concerning enthusiastic home tinkerers........
