Front sight adjustment question.
YOu would think I would know this but I am not sure and don't wish to waste time or ammo.
I have a nice 1917 Eddystone with excellent barrel. She is shooting consistantly slightly to the left of my target. I shoot a 6 oclock hold so I have to compensate and shade my front sight on the edge of the center.
I would like to attempt to drift the sight to get it dead on. Then I will only have to compensate for wind conditions.
As I said if I am dead center the rifle is shooting on the left side of the bull 9 ring at 9oclock. Can I drift the sight to bring this in? If so which way do I go (looking down the barrel)?
Many thanks,

drift the front sight the way you want the bullet to move, just a little bit will do you, just a couple taps with a punch and hammer should do the trick.

scratch that..brain fart, its the other way around..to move the bullet right move the front sight left.
to move the bullet left, move the front sight right...

It's ok, Chuck! As a Really Senior Member of Jouster, you had a really senior moment. But you caught it in time! FYI: Who's on first! What's on second! As far as third, I don't know.

I knocjed mine over 4 min in preperation for the Eastern Games using HXP.
At the Games we were issued the new Hornady match 30/06. The zero shifted back 5 min the other way. I still shot a decent 267/300 with a five or six min hold to the right LOL. I want a proper sight tool. Where can I get one ?

1917 front sight tool
An AK front sight tool works great on my 1917. A little filing for that perfect fit and it's ready. You can make small adjustments easily on the line. The Ak sight tool is a C shaped tool that fits around the sight with a screw to move the sight. It can be found on any site that sells AK stuff.

There are two ways you can do it, first is buy a cheap SKS sight tool for less than ten bucks and grind it out just a touch to fit the ears OR you can go big and buy an original tool here ( APEX Gun Parts ) for 65 bucks, (it says P14 but its the same beasty).

SKS tool is good
I use the sks sight tool and after minimal filing to open it up it works like a charm. It is much more precise than a hammer and punch, which I have also tried.

Just file off a little metal on the inside of the "C" opposite the adjustment screw and it will slip easily over the 'ears' of the front sight.
