Notice the '28 is later, fixed L rear sight, barrel is plain. Good thing he found an OD color belt as the white ones would really stand out

When I first looked at the pic, I wondered if it was 28 or 21. Then I saw the late sight and was sure it would be 28. Remember the USMC had 21's? I wonder if they were all used up by this time? The belt is just a typical example of the troop needed something so he made it happen.
