Remington Model 1891 Mosin Nagant
Hey all,
I just picked up a Remington Mosin Nagant, Model 1891 dated 1917. It's a bit of a project gun as it looks like somebody sanded down the stock a bit. I'm debating on just following through since it's mostly done but it's missing the sling escutcheons. Anybody have any idea where I can find the correct ones for this gun? Are they the same as the 91/30? Already checked Numrich and Sarco, no dice. Also considering just replacing the stock but not having any luck there either. Anybody have any ideas? I'm at a loss.

M91 stocks are a real bizatch to find, as are authentic sling escutcheons.
Best bet is to watch ebay, gunbroker and gunboards for any activity.
Post photos of this bad boy, I want to see it!

That figures. I'm ok with the stock, even though it looks like it's been completely defiled, it's salvageable. It's not like it's eating anything so it can sit in the cabinet until I find what I'm looming for. As for the pics, if I get a chance to get out into the daylight tomorrow I'll try to get some to post. She sure ain't pretty but I figured for $100 I couldn't go wrong.

Sounds like it might be a standard Soviet rebuild. They sanded down all the stocks and refinished them.
Are the parts Remington also or have they been mixed up with others?
