Who made it?

Came across a real nice carbine jeep scabbard as pictured in Riesch's 5th edition, page 156.
It is stamped at the top front but is very light and about impossible to read. I can make out the "US" at the top and below that is something "leather" The third line says something "inc.", I think. Below that is "1943"
Anyone have an idea who made this?

Hi, According to Larry Ruth "War Baby Comes Home" there were three with 1943 dates. Fulton L.C. Co. , Hotze , S. Froelich Co. I guess just see if any of the lettering fits. John

Thanks for looking, guys. This thing definitely has a 4 line address
with the US on the top line and 1943 on the bottom line. Its the 2 middle lines that
I can't make out. Closest I can guess would be Fulton Leather spelled out on the 2nd line and
C... Co. Inc. spelled out on the 3rd line. Maybe somebody has a better guess?

I have a NOS leather scabbard for the M1 carbine with straps. It is natural leather (pinkish tan color) and marked "SCHMELL LEATHER GOODS CO., INC. 1943". also, of course, it is marked "US" above the makers mark.

Leather scabbard designed for the M1 carbine. These leather scabbards were built to attach to motorcycles, jeeps and other US vehicles. These were built of tanned leather 24" by 6" by 2 1/2" at the base. This piece was in storage for years and is in as new condition. See page 652 and 653 of "War Baby Comes Home Vol 11" by Larry Ruth. This piece is marked with a maker's name "US over Schell Leather Goods and Co. Inc. 1943". This is not one of the sample names noted in the Ruth Book. This piece is in new condition with its original straps that have not been mounted on the scabbard. The leather still has the factory shipping oil. All the copper rivets show green tarnish. 100% correct and original condition.

I'm not sure if it's spelled SCHMELL or SCHELL, 1st link said Schmell, Joe Salter said Schell. Salters pictures were long gone, but my gut says he's correct with his spelling, but can't say for sure either way.

Missing a strap makes a big difference. A lot is placed on having the original straps.

I don't believe people think that every maker is listed in War Baby. The book is 20 years old now, written with the known makers at that time. A lot of things have been uncovered since then. I know I have more pouches and muzzle covers then shown in it.

Its got a top strap and a bottom strap but the middle strap is missing. Otherwise, its in excellent condition.
