SMLE Training Sight - help needed to identify?

I picked this up today. I was told it is a training sight for the SMLE. It fixes over the Nose Cap. Can anyone shed any light on this? I've never seen one before. It does magnify very slightly.Attachment 97640

Never seen one before; however it does look like a front Galilean sight for a Match Rifle.
These were generally shot between 800 and 1200 yards, the circular aiming spot is the tell tale indicator for my thoughts!

It would need to be paired with a clearing lens on the rear sight surely?

Not necessary so Eddie, I has a Steyr supine match rifle that was probably in the region of 3x power that didn't require a clearing lens.
