L42A1 Lens Brush Container?

Hi all,
I was refered to this site by a friend who is a member on here.

He said I should post this to see if its legit as potentialy I could have a nice find. Its around 41/2 inches in length. The Lid is a lot darker in hand, and not visable in the photos is minor storage wear on the inside of the plastic (from pullthrough?) otherwise it looks in good cond.

Any comments is appreciated,

This bottle is the real deal, I know where it came from. It has been stored out of the sun and I guess this could account for its clear appearance. I'll attempt to post photos of my one which came from the same place this weekend.

Tried to get a better shot but its night here and im off to an auction this weekend. Heres a shot with the other one I found with it. Also a pull through that was in one, pass if it was supposed to be in there or not. If you want to know where I got it I'm prepared to answer it in an email, just not on the public thread.

IT ain't being out in the sun that causes the yellowing effect, it's just simple age that does it. And with it comes its age related brittleness! It's the old 60's plasticiser effect!!!!!!!

How do I know all this......... Handled and changed hundreds of them through yellowing and cracking/breaking due to age hardening. Not saying that this ain't the real McCoy but there's an old pommy saying that if something looks too good to be true, then it usually is!

Peter may I expand a bit on your comments? In the car business the issue you quote is called Plasticizer Migration. Various chemicals are added to plastics to make them easier to mold and to retain some flexibility after molding. With time and exposure to Ultra Violet rays from the sun, the plasticizers move out of the material and the base material becomes brittle and often changes color. As a new car ages you get that nasty film on the front windows. That film is plasticizers from the plastic trim in the vehicle and in time the dash panel et. al. will crack.

It seems to me the question we all ought to be asking (if we are at all interested in the subject) is this: 'is there any evidence that anyone out there is making copies of these containers as yet?' I've not heard anything definite but I've been expecting it ever since the lens brush bottles started making big money. Do any of the forummers have any specific knowledge that the process of reproducing these has actually started? People always try to keep it a secret to facilitate passing them off as genuine, but word always gets out soon enough....

De facto, if nobody is yet making any copies then any that turn up must be real ones. However, if they are being copied, then life gets more interesting........!
