a few early parts

While going through some of my Lee Enfield parts, I found three early parts and set them aside for a photo.

1. the cut-off appears to be for the Long Lee rifles ?

2. the rear swivel also appears to be from the Long Lee rifles

3. the steel butt plate might be for the Lee Enfield Mark 1 and Mark 1* ?Attachment 79250Attachment 79249

Magazine cut off is for a Sht.LE Mk.III, note the cutout in the side of the plate to clear the right feed lip of the type. 2, 3 & 4 magazine.
This 1910 pattern of cut off has the outer stop nib metal slit and bent upwards a touch to help it make positive stop against the receiver.
Earlier versions had a flat nib parallel with relation to the plate.

Sling swivel is Martini.
It is not a long Lee pattern unit as some might think. Although very similar, there is one visible and very subtle difference.
The mounting stud eye shown in the assembly has a flat face around its diameter, in effect, a cylinder. Long Lee and Lee carbine mounting stud eye diameters were finished with a convex surface, in effect barrel shaped.

The stamped sheet steel butt plate is early Sht.LE Mk.I

Thank you for providing the correct information on my parts. I knew the rear sling swivel was not like my Mark 1*** which still had the early stock (photos)

I notice that the butt stock disk shows a British broad arrow acceptance mark. What I find interesting is that this mark typically is on the back of the disk, the front being blank ready for any markings.

Often the disks were reversed and re-countersunk for the screw. I would be tempted to lift out the brass disk and have a look at the other side.

The trick to getting them out without damage to the inletting, is to remove the screw and then take a big fat wood screw or self tapper and ease the tip of it into the screw hole of the brass until it bites. The disk can then be wiggled a bit and carefully lifted out.

Might be a useless exercise, but there is a 50/50 chance that there are unit markings on the back (front)...

I was able to remove the disk without any damage, the back of the disk is blank except for a small arrow stamp. You never know what could be on the other side ? thanks for
your help.
