Need help with mystery M-1 Garand
Hi All - I was just in a local gun shop today and noticed markings on a Garand that I have never encountered befiore. The heel of the receiver was marked IHC in capital letters, with a serial number od E001XX. Above the IHC was a mark that looked like the letter "T", but at a right angle. The numbers looked stamped and were slightly uneven. The barrel markings had to be read upside down. The markings were S-W-2-42 (the S looked double-strike). This is not a bonified contractor, for International Harvester would have the postage stamp, gap or arrowhead configuration regarding nomenclature. Any ideas as to the origin of this "mystery" Garand? Thanks for your replies - Thunderbolt
