Topaz,
Yes this is the same seller from GB.
Some years back we all bought real USGI WWII Carbine parts from them....... But times have changed.

P.S. I'm not sure of his partners names, but seem to recall back when we would send payment to Florida.

Just a suggestion, but try and get the name/contact info of the son from the seller. If the story is true, which I have no reason to doubt, there will never be a better time to try and get as much history/provenance as possible. If there's the slightest possibility of doing this, the WWII vet's name and history will follow the carbine as it should. Something that may or may not be important to the son. It never hurts to ask. Personally I am just as interested in the history as I am the carbine.

dbarn, I'm with you 110% on the history end. I plan to see what info is available from the seller. He does state that he got it a couple of years ago from the son. I'm hoping to find out anything I can on it. One of my other carbines has property marking on it and was suppose to have been issued as the small arm for a LST pilot off the attack transport USS George Clymer AP27. As to if it is real or bubba I haven't been able to get anyone who knows how weapons on board ships were / or if marked. I will follow up on it. Thanks for all comments. John

If there is no way of verifying the Carbine's history, you are not doing future collectors any favor by accepting second hand history. The Carbine must stand on its own merits, and provenance without a link in no way provides authentication.

Agree completely. It's also of interest that if the story is verified, this is at least the third original IP I'm familiar with that served with the US Navy/ship or connected in some way.
BTW: This would be a great time to join the Carbine Club

johnnypeppers, I hear what you are saying, but if one does not try to find a link then it is lost forever. I fully understand that it would need to be some form of official record as stories are just stories. Even a testimonial can be whatever a person wants to writes up. At least if there is a name, there is a possible hope. As I stated regarding my IBM with property markings, It is a real great story and only a story unless I can find a link. Thanks, John

John, When you get the carbine I'd like to see pictures of the buttplate, the left side of the front sight, and maybe a closeup of the trigger. If the "double notch" is supposed to be there on the trigger, I'm having trouble seeing it. Thanks, - Bob

Hi Bob, Remind me in a couple of weeks. I don't see notch or step in the photos, but CCNL 21 shows three types of trigger shapes. One (type 3) is without the notch or step. Seller states butt plate unmarked. CCNL 245 states butt plate can be unmarked in Underwood pattern also that trigger can be unmarked. No info about numbering on front sight as of now. Will check all once it arrives. Thanks for comments, John

John, I'm not a member of the CC yet, but did some research in War Baby and it pretty much says the same thing about the parts I questioned. "N" only is OK on the front sight, and may or may not have a number. Thanks, Bob.
