Assembly with the Type-38 problem..
Hello all,
Had a stock redone on a nice Type 38 ( It had to be, water damage had killed half the butt stocks finish and bleached it). Upon reassembly I could not get the screw that connects the lower and upper tangs to line up. In particular the screw was about an eighth inch off the bottom tangs hole.
Being exceptionally clever, I simply thought I would take another type-38 apart carefully next the one giving me problems . Maybe the lower tang on the first rifle is bent or I was assembling the screws wrong, ect.
In my brilliance I now have two type-38's I simply cannot assemble because of the exact problem.
Has anyone else had or heard of this problem?

Well after some minipulation it seems the real showstoper is I can not get the rear guard screw to bite into the receiver after it threads and clears the lower tang.
I'm sure you all understand now.. Hmmm..

Assemble the tangs and the trigger guard to the stock with the rear tang screw. Leave the screw loose. Once you have done this install the barrelled receiver.
