2nd serial number block Inland
It's cold and snowy in upstate NY so I thought I would post this. Truth be told, I'm a little bored. Maybe some good conversation can come of this.
I've had this carbine for several years. I purchased it through Gunbroker from a pawn shop owner. I inquired as to how the pawn broker came by the carbine. This is what he told me, true or false. A guy had come into the pawn shop and sold it to him. The guy's story is that he had been to an estate auction. Before the auction he was looking at the items to be sold. One item was a box of military clothing. He rummaged through the clothing and found this carbine at the bottom of the box wrapped in brown paper. He covered the carbine back up and proceeded to buy the box of clothing at the auction for $85.
Here is the carbine. (BTW: I paid a little bit more than $85 for it)

Looks like the old veteran got a hold of that before it even left the shipping crate at the armory. If ever there was a "brand new" carbine I'd say this is it

It does look about new. Is it right? They must exist, I had a first run M2 many years ago that had admittedly been lifted at one time before it had any wear and tear...

Is the butt plate right for Inland? Looks more like a "Winchester" to me

Inland and late Winchester butt plates are very similar.
