Just purchased my first Enfield.
Greetings. I have been touring the net lately in an effort to find information on my recently purchased Enfield. From the research I have done so far it appears that this is the place to go if you need assistance. From what I have been able to find out so far I believe that I have a (non matching bolt) 1943 Maltby No 4 Mk 1. I'm hoping that that the folks here can help me verify this, or set me straight. The markings on the receiver band are what appears to be an "M" 1943 and AJ18994. The barrel has multiple markings, including GHP with a crown and possibly crossed cannons, another crown with EN76 and the same ser# as the receiver. The stock does not appear to have been sanded, but I do not find any markings on it. the underside of the upper hand guard has HM CO LTD stamped in it. It is the grooved type hand guard. This rifle also only has the dual aperture flip sight, should it have the micrometer style sight instead? Any information you could provide would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Mark.

Looks good. The rear sight is fine as-is. If you wanted to substitute a Mk.1 adjustable type for easier shooting it wouldn't be out of place, either. Enjoy it.
