That's a Enos M1A.
Beech stock, exterior bedding looks great. Don't be afraid to pull trigger group out. "Padding" is to minimize wood compression.
It's a twin to mine.

Actually it is referred to as a Devine. Sorry for the brain vapor.
They are the Holy Grail of M1A's . If I remember correctly, they went up to around serial #3000 the commercial Springfield Armory bought them out. The receivers are harder than woodpeckers lips, spec like GI's.
Looks like a GI Springfield 08/69 barrel, GI bolt.
Like I posted earlier, go to the M14 Forum, they have a separate forum for the Devine's.

I believe that the stock is birch; heavier than walnut, but harder. The barrel is a USGI contract NM barrel made by Sacco Defense; the lightweight NM barrel is externally close to standard barrels, heavier NM barrels require enlarging the barrel channel in the stock.
